It's Time to Green Up the Community!
The Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce, in continued partnership with the Village of Wauconda, has finalized plans to participate in the nationwide observance of Arbor Day with its 8th Annual Tree and Shrub Sale. The sale is scheduled for Saturday, April 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event will be hosted at 610 W. Liberty Street, Wauconda, in the parking lot of Acres Group (behind Walgreen’s). The event offers a wide variety of trees, shrubs and ornamental plants for sale at below retail prices thanks to the generosity of Acres Group, a Wauconda landscaper and Wauconda Area Chamber member.
A portion of the proceeds are allocated to a joint program between the Village of Wauconda and the Chamber of Commerce to fund a poster contest that teaches students to be more familiar with the environmental benefits provided by trees. This contest is open to fifth grade students from Wauconda Grade School, Robert Crown Elementary School and Transfiguration Catholic School. All three schools will receive a planted tree or shrub for their participation.
To help kick-start the planting, free compost will be offered with any purchase. Midwest Organics, a local provider located at Golden Oaks Farm, is generously donating the compost. As an added bonus, the Wauconda Public Works Department and Homer Tree Care will provide free curbside tree delivery to residents within the boundaries of Wauconda School District #118. The Chamber is accepting pre-paid orders through Thursday, April 25 with a valid credit card. A complete plant list and prices can be found at link below.
In addition to Acres Group and Homer Tree Care, the Chamber thanks Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital, the Daily Herald Media Group and Ray Auto Group of Fox Lake for their generous sponsorship of the event.
Plan to arrive early to take advantage of this outstanding community benefit. Trees and shrubs must be paid for at time of purchase. The Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce, the Village of Wauconda and Acres Group extends no warranty or assume any liability in the event of product death. Please contact the Chamber for additional information at 847-526-5580.
